The application of biological enzymes in wound treatment

The latest guidelines from the American Wound Association in 2016 and the updated guidelines from the European Wound Association in 2013 both recommend enzymatic debridement as an effective debridement method. In the consensus document on the application of wound diagnosis and treatment technology issued by the International Working Group on Wound Technical Guidelines in 2016, and in the treatment guide on pressure ulcers issued by the International Wound Healing Association in 2006, proteolytic enzyme preparations are recommended for debridement treatment of chronic ulcers such as diabetes feet and pressure ulcers.
Composite lysozyme has also been included in the following clinical diagnosis and treatment guidelines in China.
The Chinese Wound Diagnosis and Treatment Guidelines (2015 Edition) were compiled by the Traumatology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and the Organization Repair and Regeneration Branch of the Chinese Medical Association. The Chinese Wound Diagnosis and Treatment Guidelines (2015 Edition): ① Composite Lysozyme gauze is a new biological protease bactericide for external use, which has broad-spectrum antibacterial effects on various Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria and can promote pressure ulcer wound healing. ② The composite lysozyme disinfectant is effective in clearing bacteria from residual burn wounds infected with MRSA The combination of Shengji Yuhong ointment and composite lysozyme disinfectant has a better therapeutic effect on chronic osteomyelitis than using Shengji Yuhong ointment alone.
The Guidelines for Perioperative Wound Management of Anorectal Diseases, compiled by the Anorectal Disease Professional Committee of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, include: ① Recommendation for Postoperative Wound Management of Anorectal Diseases: External Application of Compound Lysozyme Gauze to Prevent Infection. ② The management of postoperative complications during the perioperative period for anal and intestinal diseases is recommended. Infected individuals can use a wet compress of composite lysostaphin gauze.
The Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment Guidelines for Burn Surgery (Infection Volume), compiled by the Burn Physicians Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and edited by renowned burn expert Jia Chiyu, recommend the use of composite lysozyme gauze and composite lysozyme disinfectants for the prevention and treatment of MRSA infection in burn wounds.
The Latest Progress in Medical Disinfection, edited by the Disinfectants Branch of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association and edited by renowned disinfection experts Zhang Liubo and Yang Huaming, states that composite lysozyme disinfectants are suitable for the prevention and disinfection of all wound infections due to their unique bactericidal mechanism of being non-toxic, non irritating, and less prone to drug resistance. They have a significant effect on MRSA infection and can be widely used in surgery, burn and trauma departments Departments such as Obstetrics and Gynecology, Stomatology, Dermatology, and Otolaryngology.
